So how do we put all of this information together? In an assignment of course.
Assume that a police department wants to take a proactive approach to minimize instances of Brady violations by training its officers regarding Brady and Giglio. The police department hired you to create the content that should be included in this training. In an initial post of a minimum of 500 words and with proper citations, discuss the content of your training material, including a summary of the key legal concepts and other information that you would include. For example, you may want to include examples of exculpatory information; the definition of “materiality,”; examples of information that can be used for impeachment; or the effect a Brady violation has on a conviction.

I have included the assignments that were required in preparation for the final research proposal. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Assignment Instruction for Research Proposal
Research Methods and Designs (previous assignment)
Literature Review (previous assignment)
Article Analysis (previous assignment)
Instructions
This assignment is something that you will be able to draw upon moving forward in the program. A research proposal is a very common start to a research project as it helps to frame out the importance of the project itself and show the knowledge gaps that currently exist in the literature. Typically after a solid research proposal is written, the paper unfolds from there as you have a clear framework to follow moving forward.
This assignment requires you to write a proposal that states your research question and your research strategy for addressing it. As mentioned throughout your previous assignments you may draw upon each one to help you build your proposal.
Research Proposal:
The research proposal must be between 8-10 pages in length not including title page or references.
Your title page should include the working title of your research project, your name, date, and course title. You should also have an abstract on your title page.
Your proposal should have the following sections:
Introduction: The introduction is where you identify your specific research question and where you set the general context for the study. In this section you need to include:
a statement of the problem or general research question and context leading to a clear statement of the specific research question; background and contextual material justifying why this case or topic should be studied; and a purpose statement.
Literature Review: This short preliminary literature review section reviews the literature important to your specific research question. The literature review focuses on discussing how other researchers have addressed the same or similar research questions. It introduces the study and places it in a larger context that includes a discussion of why it is important to study this case. It provides the current state of accumulated knowledge as it relates to your specific research question. In this section you should:
Summarize the general state of the literature (cumulative knowledge base) on the specific research question. For example, if you discuss other studies that have been conducted you would summarize the researcher’s findings, how those findings were obtained, and conduct an evaluation of biases in the findings.
This section should provide a broad overview of the primary arguments related to the topic and organizes the general views on the main aspects of the topic by theme, which could be the prevailing arguments or schools of thought, or commonly held beliefs that your particular topic may challenge.
Include a short conclusion and transition to the next section.
In your literature review, you should also discuss the theoretical framework to be used in the study. You should ensure you cover the following in your discussion:
a summary of the theory or model to be used in the study, including a diagram of the model if appropriate;
comment on the kinds of questions this theory has been used to answer in the past and why it is appropriate to use in this proposed study.
To really drive this home you want to end your literature review with a discussion of the current knowledge gaps. This is an opportunity to once again promote the importance of your own research. How will your research fit within this larger body of knowledge? What are you doing differently? What gaps will your research fill?
For some additional information on how to organize your theoretical framework into your paper, check out this USC Library guide on Theoretical Frameworks.
From here you would then include a transition into your methodology section.
NOTE: Literature reviews can be a bit tricky to write. Think back to how you wrote your short theory lit review in week 4. Chances are you already started to write in a style similar to what one does when completing a literature review. Check out this video (the same one you were guided to in week 4) to help you further prepare to write this section of your proposal. This will not be the last time that you are asked to write a literature review in your academic career so it is important to master this skill.
Research Design and Methods: Describes how you will answer your research question or test the hypothesis. This section describes your overall research design and how you plan to collect, synthesize, and interpret your data. It should include:
identification and operationalization (measurement) of variables; a sampling plan (i.e., study population and sampling procedures, if appropriate); justification of case studies used;
data collection/sources (secondary literature, archives, interviews, surveys, etc.); a summary of analysis procedures (pattern-matching, etc.); and the limitations of the study and bias discussion.
Conclusion: Reemphasizes the importance of your study and ties the proposal together.
Reference List: As with all academic papers you need to references the works that you have cited (direct quotes or paraphrases) in the text of your document and incorporate a complete reference list or bibliography at the end. This list needs to be in the style used within your field. APA= Criminal Justice, Turabian for all others in this course.
Remember that the references you use demonstrate your knowledge of the topic area. This research proposal is meant to convince your professor that you not only have identified a worthy question in need of investigation but that you are also capable of carrying out the research involved to successfully answer that question. At the very least you should have referenced 12-15 peer-reviewed sources in this proposal.
Since multiple writing styles are in use within this course, on your title page, please note which style you are using within your assignment. This will help me cater my comments to the style you are using. The style you use needs to be the one that is used within your program of study.
Format:
Standard academic format will suffice: 1-inch borders on all four sides, double spaced, with times new roman 12-point font.
As you proof read your assignment I encourage you to work with Belcher, Wendy Laura. 2009. “Editing Your Sentences” In Writing Your Journal Article in 12 Weeks: A Guide to Academic Publishing Success. Sage. This resource has a nice step by step process for enhancing your writing.

In this course, you will complete a research paper one of four possible theories

In this course, you will complete a research paper one of four possible theories within the field of Criminology. Throughout the course, you will submit portions of your paper to help you prepare for the submission of the final publish in week 7. This week, you are responsible for selecting one of the following theories and explaining why this theory is of interest to you. Your options for this assignment are Cultural Transmission Theory, Structural Strain Theory, Control Theory or Labeling Theory. You should submit 1 page with no less than three paragraphs with your topic selection.

As we progress through the term, you will be working towards your final paper which will be an essay, 3-5 pages (1,500 words minimum) in length, not including your cover page or works cited. Your paper should consider the historical foundations of the study of criminal behavior; and examine ways in which society responds to criminal behavior in terms of prevention and punishment. The paper should be written in APA format and have at least four sources, three of which should be sources not covered in the course. The essay should contain a title page and a reference page. You are not required to prepare an abstract for this assignment.
As a part of your paper, you should include “real” examples of your theory in action from your own observations of your life or others around you or you may use examples from books, movies or television shows that have interested you. You must give specific examples of what happened to make it fit your theory.
The question sets below are simply guidance to help you write your paper and analyze your examples. You may not be able to or wish to answer every question under your theory, they are simply there for guidance.
Cultural Transmission Theory- Based upon your example, consider the process by which the main subject becomes involved in deviant and criminal behavior: is the behavior the product of learning, operant conditioning, lack of containment, or failure of self control? Which theory do you believe best accounts for the subject’s thought process and actions? Do you see examples of learned techniques as well as learned motivations? Conclude by analyzing the agents of socialization- parents, media, peers, schools, etc.- that facilitated the cultural transmission. Is there any way to break the cycle from generation to generation?
Structural Strain Theory- Based upon your specific example, consider the socially-endorsed goals that the main subject(s) is seeking to achieve? Do you consider these goals normal and desirable? What specifically happened that interfered with the achievement of these goals? Using Merton’s theory of strain, determine whether the actions represent conformity, innovation, ritualism, retreatism, and rebellion; keep in mind that you might find a number of these modes of adaptation in any scenario or example, depending on the specific obstacles and circumstances. Conclude by determining if the criminal innovation and rebellion that resulted from the strain is understandable and should be excused, or so deviant that it should be prosecuted.
Control Theory- Consider Travis Hirschi’s Control Theory in the person in your example of scenario. Give specific examples of how this person(s) had bonds of attachment, commitment, involvement and belief. Which bonds are missing, weakened or broken, and what were the specific results for that character? If you were a policy-maker, what would you do to ensure that the crucial bonds that give control to teenager’s lives are not broken- and what can you do for those who lose control and resort to crime?
Labeling Theory- Based upon your specific example/scenario, consider the role of labeling in the social interaction and life choices of the person(s); give specific examples using discussions/dialogue and descriiptions of what happened to explain the labeling process and its repercussions on the person. Who were agents of socialization that labeled the person? In what way were they “significant others” or “Moral entrepreneurs”? Did you see examples of primary deviance which transformed into secondary deviance? Was the person an example of “self fulfilling prophecy?”

Overview:
The occupational fatality rate for police officers is 3 – 5 times greater than the average for the working population in the United States. In 2017, 140 police officers committed suicide compared with 129 police officers who died in the line of duty during the same period.
There must be a genuine concern for the wellness of police officers relative to incapacitating physiological, psychological, and emotional health problems, in addition to other occupational hazards associated with their jobs. The officer’s wholeness has a direct impact on their abilities to perform their duties and responsibilities.
Active Learning Question:
Why is the overall wellness and mental health of law enforcement officers ultimately critical to the safety of the members of the general public?
What do I post?
Your initial active learning input each week must be fully responsive to the active learning question and must include APA style and format in-text citations in the commentary connected to listed APA style and format references at the end. In other words, your points and perspectives must be objectively supported by scholarly sources.

Discussion: Make Your Case

“God’s moral law conflicts with my job duties,” Davis told the judge. “You can’t be separated from something that’s in your heart and in your soul.” But Bunning [the presiding judge] was unconvinced. “I myself have genuinely held religious beliefs,” the judge later said, but “I took an oath.”
—from “Kim Davis, Kentucky Clerk, Held in Contempt and Ordered to Jail”
Review the “Kim Davis, Kentucky Clerk, Held in Contempt and Ordered to Jail” article about court clerk Kim Davis, who refused to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. Then, review Duties of Elected County Officials (Revised July 2020) (pp. 53-54), which contains the job descriiption for a Kentucky county clerk (Note: After you click on the link above, you will need to click the PDF file next to Duties of Elected County Officials (Revised September 2018) under the Informational Bulletins section.)
Take one of the following two positions: (1) an individual must carry out the mission of the organization they represent even if their personal convictions or beliefs conflict with that mission, or (2) an individual should not be obligated to carry out the mission of the organization they represent if their personal convictions or beliefs conflict with that mission.
First, title your initial post either “an individual must carry out the mission of the organization they represent even if their personal convictions or beliefs conflict with that mission” or “an individual should not be obligated to carry out the mission of the organization they represent if their personal convictions or beliefs conflict with that mission.”
Then, using the provided example or one you have researched, make your case. Use the following questions to guide you in your response:
Why is or isn’t it critical for an individual to carry out an organization’s mission if that mission conflicts with their personal beliefs?
Is it ever acceptable to allow personal convictions or beliefs to overrule an organization’s mission? Why or why not?
Are there alternatives that could be considered to allow these seemingly conflicting ideas to coexist? Explain.
In response to your peers, consider how their argument compares to yours. Do you agree with their position? Why or why not? Did their position agree with yours, but they made a point you hadn’t considered? Did they make the opposite argument, but you found yourself agreeing with parts of their logic? Which of their points or arguments make the most sense to you, even if you still disagree with their overall position?
To complete this assignment, review the Discussion Rubric document.

Exam Essay 1 This essay focusses on the testimony of William Fuller, a Jamaican

Exam Essay 1
This essay focusses on the testimony of William Fuller, a Jamaican police officer
who was personally involved in the events that transpired in St. Thomas-in-theEast in October, 1865. Read the deposition of Fuller on pages 80–82 of Volume 2 of
the Report of the Jamaica Royal Commission (London: Spottiswoode, 1866). A
digitized copy of the report is available online on Google Books.
As you read Fuller’s deposition, consider the following questions:
• What can we infer about the witness from his testimony?
• How was he connected to the rebellion and those accused of being involved in it?
• Are there parts of his testimony that are based on his own experience? Are there
parts that convey only second-hand information?
• Are there parts of his testimony that may be based on false memories,
exaggerations, wishful thinking, or even outright lies? Are there parts of his
testimony that should be regarded as reliable?
• Why did the Royal Commission question him? What seems to be the focus of
their questions addressed to him? What are their questions designed to establish
or disprove?
• What can you infer from his testimony about the rebellion and those accused of
being involved in it?
• Are there contradictions or gaps in his testimony?
• How does his testimony support or contradict the interpretations offered by
others you’ve read this semester in their historical accounts of the rebellion?
Use the search function of Google Books, or your ability to skim texts, to locate
within the Report of the Jamaica Royal Commission the testimony of at least one
other witness to the events Fuller describes, for example another police officer
involved in the attempt to arrest Bogle. Consider the following questions as you
read the testimony of this other witness:
• Are there ways in which the witness corroborates Fuller’s account?
• Are there ways in which the witness contradicts Fuller’s account?
• What can be inferred from the witness’ account about the events that
transpired?
In an essay of 1,000 words, analyze Fuller’s testimony, setting it in the context of
other primary sources we have read in the course and the testimony of at least one
other witness to the events Fuller recounts. In such a short essay, you won’t be
able to answer all the questions noted above. But you must ensure that you go
beyond merely repeating what Fuller says to analyzing it. At this point in the
course, you should have some sense of the larger significance of the rebellion and
its suppression. Your essay should focus on the aspects of Fuller’s testimony that
relate to the bigger questions that historian ask about the rebellion and its
significance.
Imagine that you are writing for a reader who is familiar in a general way with the
nineteenth-century history of the Atlantic world and the Morant Bay Rebellion, but
who may not be familiar with Fuller or with the specific details or themes that
emerge in Fuller’s testimony. You should write clearly and with enough
explanation to set your observations in context, but you should avoid stating what
is too obvious. You only have a 1,000 words. Make good use of them.
Your response should be written in a clear font, such as Times New Roman or
Courier, at a minimum size of 12pt, and the paragraph should be double-spaced.
Submit your response on turnitin on Blackboard before the deadline indicated
above.

These are Interview questions. I have answered all the questions.
I need to take all the questions and create a summary of what I wrote without using exact words. I need a summary essay based on my answers.
See below-
What is crisis intervention?
Crisis intervention is a process that involves assessing a situation, communicating with the person experiencing the crisis, and helping them find resources or solutions. It’s essential to be empathetic when working with someone going through a crisis because they may not be able to think clearly. I always try to make sure my clients feel safe and supported during our conversations so they can focus on finding a solution.”
Can you give an example of a situation where crisis intervention would be needed?
In my previous role as a mental health counselor, I had a client struggling with depression. He would often call me at night when he felt overwhelmed by his emotions. One night, he called me while driving home from work. He told me he was having suicidal thoughts and wanted to know if there were any nearby hospitals where he could go for help. I calmly talked him through the situation and helped him find a hospital nearby. After we hung up, I immediately called the hospital and spoke with a nurse about the situation. She said she would send someone out to meet him.”
How do mental health professionals help in crises?
Mental health professionals are trained to assess a situation, communicate with others involved, and support those experiencing a crisis. In my previous role as a psychiatric nurse, I helped patients experiencing suicidal thoughts by listening to them, asking questions about their feelings, and providing resources for them to use when they felt overwhelmed or needed additional support.”
How does the psychological condition of a person affect their ability to cope with complex events and stressful situations?
I always ask my clients about their mental health history, including whether they have been diagnosed with or treated for anxiety, depression, or other psychological disorders. I also ask them if they are currently taking any medications or supplements that may affect their ability to cope with difficult situations. This information helps me determine the most effective types of crisis interventions.”
How does age affect a person’s ability to deal with stress and trauma?
Age affects how well someone copes with stress and trauma. For example, children are more likely to have nightmares after experiencing traumatic events because they don’t know what is real. Teenagers may be able to handle stressful situations better than younger children but still, need support when dealing with trauma. Adults often have more coping skills than teenagers, but their experiences can also vary widely.”
What are some things you can do to help yourself stay calm during a crisis?
I find that deep breathing exercises are one of the best ways to remain calm during a crisis. When I feel stressed out, I take a few minutes to breathe deeply and focus on my surroundings. This helps me get back into a state of mind where I can be more helpful to others. Another thing I do is write down all of my thoughts and feelings. Writing things down has always helped me process my emotions and put them into perspective.”
What are some tips for dealing with victims of natural disasters?
When I’m helping victims of natural disasters, my first priority is always safety. I make sure that everyone is out of harm’s way before I start asking questions about their needs. Once we’re all safe, I try to get an idea of who they are and what resources they have available to them. For example, if someone has a medical condition, I’ll call for emergency services or find someone else who can provide assistance. After that, I stay with them until help arrives.”
What kinds of support services can be provided during or after a traumatic event?
“There are many different kinds of support services that can be provided during or after a traumatic event, including counseling, medical care, legal advice and financial assistance. In my last role as a crisis counselor, I helped provide all of these services for victims of domestic violence who were seeking shelter at our organization’s crisis hotline. We had counselors on staff 24/7 to answer calls and offer support and guidance to callers in need.”
